Eb Netr On Greyhound Handicapping

Using Win and Quiniela Percentage

By Eb Netr
When you pick dogs to bet at the track, what do you look for? Class, speed, consistency, win percentage? When you look at a race where two dogs are pretty evenly matched, what makes you choose one over the other? And, after you do that, what do you do with the dog that you didn’t pick?
Most people can find more than one dog they like in a race. If you’re like me, you may have the problem of finding too many dogs in a race. So, if you can narrow your picks down to two dogs, this is a good thing. Only, then you have to figure out how to play them.

Hollywood Shocks Greyhound World

Stunning News From Hollywood Greyhound Track
In a shocking and dramatic announcement, made last night on Big Jackpot Betting.com Hollywood Greyhound Track aka Mardi Racetrack and Casino has set the entire pari-mutuel world on end. Aldo Leone, Director of Racing at Hollywood, announced that beginning on Thursday night March 3 the effective payout on all Win, Place, & Show wagers would top out at 91%. These levels of return are virtually unheard of and have not been approached in more than fifty years on any kind of pari-mutuel wagering platform.

Aldo was quoted as saying "that in addition to earlier cuts we made in the takeout we have now reduced our takeout in half compared to our rates from last year and those were already some of the lowest in the industry to begin with". In effect Hollywood is doubling down and will attempt to compete with all forms of gambling by offering the highest rate of return in the gambling world. While some fans seem to be willing to bet into pools that only offer a return of 70% it will make a huge difference in the bottom line for all those fans that choose to receive the 90% payback on their wagers.

The entire pari-mutuel world will be watching to see the results of Hollywood's actions and that includes not only the Greyhound World but both Harness and Flat Racing Worlds as well. This is a bold move on the part of Hollywood and if it works it will certainly be a game changer on many different fronts.

If you have any interest in preserving any type of racing in this country than we strongly encourage you to support this action. Racing has badly needed a major change and now Hollywood has stepped up to the plate and given all race fans a project to rally behind. The time is now to prove that racing fans can and will support a product that is designed with the fans best interest at heart. For once someone has put the wagering public first and now it up to us to prove that this is the type of thinking that we needed all along.

Hollywood races Sunday,Monday,& Thursday Nights at 7:30pm est and on Friday & Saturday first post is at 4:30pm est. You can catch all the action and watch, wager and win at www.bigjackpotbetting.com

Jack Fink Weighs In

The Value Of Weight in Handicapping
By Jack Fink
How much value "weight" has in handicapping greyhounds is
just as confusing to the average fan as is the value of
"time". I am opposed to weight as a fundamental in handicapping
for a number of reasons.

1) The overall good is So limited that the time
required to keep records of every dog cannot
possibly compensate for the very small percentage
of winners.

2) To be able to take advantage of weight (when
there is an advantage), one would first need
to be an expert handicapper because weight
would be only one factor amid many others.

3) When you consider the many new pups who are
starting out at the track you are playing,
plus the other youngsters who have not as
yet settled their basic weight, playing dogs
in this category on weight can be a hazardous
undertaking.

4) Because most greyhounds will perform creditably
at different weights and because most
fans do not know each dog's best racing
weight, I regard the scale as a weak point
in handicapping.

Winning With Form
By Eb Netr

We often hear about dogs being in form or out of form, but what does this really mean? A simple explanation for form is "running well" but there's more to it than that. I think most handicappers would agree that the definition of form has to include an element of time to mean anything. Dogs come into form and go out of form as they run and it's the smart bettor who takes this into account when handicapping.
How do we know that a dog is in form? Look at its recent races. If the dog is running up to its potential, consistently in the money in the grade it should be in, then it's in form. And how do you know which grade the dog should be in?

Winning at the Dog Track With Insider Tips

What I have Learned over the Years
By Eb Netr
When I first started going to the track, greyhound racing was in its glory days. They still paraded the dogs to the starting boxes with a post parade and even played march music when they did it. The bettors paid attention too, because there were no simulcasts, slots or poker rooms to distract them. Greyhound handicappers watched each race carefully, made notes on their programs and some of them even kept track of First to Turn Times.

Handicapping Championship Planned

A Big Stakes Event

Lots of people know how poker has made its way into the entertainment world. It shows up on ESPN and other networks a lot.

Well, there's a group of greyhound fans hoping for the same thing.
The Mardi Gras Foundation, in Florida, will host the debut of a $1,000 buy-in handicapping contest at Mardi Gras Racetrack. It will take place April 1-2, and is co-hosted by Big Jackpot Betting.

Here's a quick rundown:
You make $24 in bets per race. Some races are trifectas only, some are superfectas, etc. The bet payoff will be the points. The top 50 percent scorers will move on to the next day's finals, where all players start at zero again.

They need 10 entrants to make it work. Plus, there might be an online element for fans to follow along.
I think it's a great way to stir up interest in the sport. Sure, it's a huge buy-in, but if it goes over maybe next time there could be smaller events, with the winners advancing to a big final (preferable someplace warm in the winter, right?)

It's a start; let's see how it goes. And, racing fans, let's give it some support.

Hollywood "HOT BOX" Feature Race

Easy Way To Win

Win Betting For Profits “Keeping it simple”
By Pup – www.greyhoundtracktips.com

If you are not participating in the “Virtual Clubhouse” every Thursday – Monday nights at Bigjackpotbetting.com then you are missing out on a lot of fun and profit!!

Mardi Gras has taken the lead in the greyhound racing industry by offering the lowest 'house take' on the simplest wager of them all, the WIN bet. If you are like most players then you have turned to playing exotic wagers to extract profits from shrinking pools. Since the simple win bet has become a historic relic I think it is worth learning the basic principles of this wager. As with anything in life there are many way to approach something. What follows is the way I approach this wager successfully in the simplest terms possible.
