Handicapping From Off The Pace

Win With Eb Netr...
Handicapping for early speed is one very good way to find winners. But early speed isn't always what determines which dog will get to the finish line first. There are times when the winner comes from "off the pace." That is, a dog that runs just behind the leaders for most of the race accelerates in the stretch and passes one or more of them right before the end of the race.
This might be a gradual maneuver - if anything can be gradual in a race that takes about a half minute - or it might be done with a flashy flourish that shocks the leader's backers, who thought they had a winning ticket. Either way, these dogs are factors in a good part of the races, so how do you handicap them?

Play The Logical Dog To Win

Win With Eb Netr...
Greyhound handicapping isn't an exact science, but it does often hinge on logic. For instance, if a dog has had 20 races, placed in ten and run out of the money in the rest of them, would you consider it a good win bet? Well, even though there are some people - born optimists, I guess who would say "it's due", I wouldn't play it to win and I doubt you would either.

How The High Rollers Do It

Win With Eb...
I'm not a big risk-taker. I like bets that have a reasonable chance of paying off. I don't usually go for the high-roller type bet where I can win a lot, but also lose a lot. This is why my friend, Lou, is always making fun of my "wimpy" betting style.

Lou is a Gambler with a capital G. I know he cashes big tickets, because I've stood behind him in line and see him at the IRS window all the time. He bets strictly trifectas and has had some real longshots with big payoffs. He had a trifecta, one time, where the winner paid over $50!

Full Steam Ahead

Happy New Year From BigJackPotBetting

First of all we at BigJackpotbetting.com would like to take this opportunity to wish all of you a healthy, happy and prosperous New Year. Without your help and support Greyhound Racing would not be experiencing the substantial growth that is taking place right now despite the dire forecasts from those that said it could not happen.

Many of you are aware of the fact that Tri-State Greyhound Park is wrapping up their biggest year handle wise in over a decade. On top of that the Mardi Gras Racetrack aka Hollywood Greyhound Track has just finished off their first month of racing of their new season and mutuel play is up over one hundred percent (100%) from last season at this time. With the World Classic and the American Greyhound Derby on tap the best is yet to come.

These are numbers that many people said were not possible but with your help they have become a reality. Greyhound Racing only needed a push in the right direction and now that we have this train rolling down the tracks please tell your friends and neighbors about what is happening and lets keep this train moving. Once Greyhound Racing catches on fire with the Internet there will be no stopping it.

Doing The Dash

Win With Eb Netr
Up until the last few years, the shortest race at most greyhound tracks was the 5/16ths of a mile sprint. With finish times around the 30 second mark, you'd think these races would go by in the blink of an eye, but when you have money on them, it's surprising how long they seem to take.
Well, now there's an even faster sprint - the 3/16ths mile. These races are getting more popular, but I'm not sure whether I like them or not. They're over so fast, it seems to me that they just start and they're over.
