QUALIFYING CONTINUES FOR PALM
BEACH KENNEL CLUB’S $20,000 GALLAGHER / KINNAIRD PUPPY
STAKES SATURDAY AFTERNOON, AUGUST 18!
West
Palm Beach, Fl. - Second-round qualifying action for Palm
Beach Kennel Club’s $20,000 Gallagher / Kinnaird Puppy takes
place Saturday afternoon, August 18.
All
48 Greyhounds from round one will compete in round two, with
the top 32 point earners advancing to round three Wednesday
afternoon, August 22.
The
top 16 athletes with the highest point totals from the third
round will move on to the semifinals Monday afternoon,
August 27.
Probable post-time favorites in round two include:
In
Race 6, racing fans will gravitate to the
well-spotted #1 WW’s Coffee Cake
(Rhythmless - WW Cava, Steve Gilster Kennel).
Race 8 features
first-round victor #7 Atasocita Henri (Rhythmless -
Atascocita Style, Suncoast Kennel). His main competition may
come from the Greyhound who finished second by a half-length
in that race, the determined #2 Mark’s Poppy
(WTD Country Gold - PA’s Black Cerry, James Douglas Kennel).
Race
10 will highlight two round-one victors in the sleek
forms of #1 Flying Exeter (Dragon Fire -
Flying Joplin, Steve Gilster) and #3 Surely Sent
(D’s Klinger - D’s Lightning, James Douglas). The nod in
this race will go to Flying Exeter.
In Race
12, redemption should occur for #1 BI’s
Mirage (BD’s Phillip - KB’s Annabella, Rader Racing
Kennel) who is set up nicely with the inside post.
The
most interesting qualifier of the afternoon will be in Race
15, as a trio of first-round winners square off for an
opportunity to enter round three undefeated. #2
Atascocita Egan (Atascocita Leroy - Atascocita Trish ,
Suncoast), #4 CBJ Largo (Flying Penske - LB
Quibble, Royal Racing Team - the entry who turned in the
fastest time of the afternoon - 29.40 seconds) and #7
Shegone (WW Time Warp - Fonseca, Rader Racing).
Another Greyhound who should make an in-the-money appearance
is #8 San Tan Big Bang (Super Lee - San Tan Geez,
Steve Gilster).
A
second-round qualifier will also be contested in Race 14.
The
$20,000 Gallagher / Kinnaird Puppy Stakes championship final
will be held Monday afternoon, September 3, Labor Day.
Formerly known as the Labor Day Puppy Stakes, this marks the
fourth year of its new title, named in memory of two Palm
Beach County legendary sportscasters, and great friends of
Palm Beach Kennel Club, Jim Gallagher and Buck Kinnaird.
