OUTSTANDING FIELD FOR PALM BEACH KENNEL CLUB $50,000 JAMES W. PAUL 3/8THS MILE CHAMPIONSHIPSATURDAY AFTERNOON, FEBRUARY 23!
West Palm Beach, Fl. - The final eight Greyhounds have been determined for Saturday afternoon’s 82ndrunning of Palm Beach Kennel Club’s $50,000 James W. Paul 3/8ths Mile Derby, one of the nation’s longest-running stake events.
Scoring three qualifying wins and a fifth-place finish, North Shore Kennel’s WWK Paylessshoes is the leading point earner and will get first choice at the all-important post positions.
North Shore Kennel scored two other Derby finalists in the sleek forms ofNidett and Verdun.
Also making the elite eight is Ryan Racing Kennel’sPrime Suspect, a finalist in last December’s $20,000 Dick Andrews Futurity, and the veteran of the field, at more than four years old and a stakes finalist herself, Suncoast Kennel’s Atascocita Tiera.

43 Points: Prime Suspect(DK’s Prime Time - Wireless Signal, Ryan Racing Kennel)
40 Points: TK Takin Chances(Flying Penske - TK All The Rage, Rader Racing Kennel)
40 Points: Nidett (WW Time Warp - Nevah, North Shore Kennel)
37 Points: Murray Mauler (Kiowa Mon Manny - Goldie Donna, James Douglas Kennel)
36 Points: Verdun (Talbon - Scoobie Blue, North Shore Kennel)
36 Points: Palm City Pamela(Dodgem By Design - KB’s Annabella, B & B Racing)
32 Points: Atascocita Tiera(Atascocita Leroy - Atascocita Flame, Suncoast Kennel)
The $50,000 Derby finalists will meet in Saturday afternoon’s twelfth race, all going for the $25,000 first-place prize.
A press conference and post position draw will be held in the track’s Terrace Restaurant Thursday afternoon, February 21, commencing at 11:45 a.m.
The $50,000 James W. Paul Derby is the second event in Palm Beach Kennel Club’s $150,000 “Big 3" Stakes series, which includes last months’ $50,000 He’s My Man Classic (O Ya Purecountry, Rader Racing) and the $50,000 Arthur J. Rooney, Sr. St. Patrick’s Invitational (Saturday afternoon, March 16).
The Derby is named in honor of humanitarian, greyhound owner and dedicated supporter of greyhound adoption James W. Paul.
