TRICKAPALOOZA VICTORIOUS IN
PALM BEACH KENNEL CLUB’S
$20,000 BOB BALFE PUPPY STAKES CHAMPIONSHIP!
West Palm Beach, Fl. - Brindle Kennel’sTrickapalooza showed himself a force to be reckoned with as he held off a very tough field to win the 47thrunning of Palm Beach Kennel Club’s $20,000 Bob Balfe Puppy Stakes Saturday afternoon, April 20.
In the finale, it was a clean rush to the first turn, with only a few lengths seperating first to eighth. Wearing the red vest of post one, OL Stewball garnered a small lead entering the backstretch, but swung out a little wide as she straightened out for her run. It was at that moment that “Chuckie”, as he is known while not on duty, ducked underneath and grabbed the rail. And as the saying goes, “That’s all she wrote”.
Trickapalooza never gave up his advantage, holding on to win by one length in a 545-yard Royal Palm Course clocking of 30.34 seconds and returning a healthy $14.00 to his happy supporters.
The fast-closing Superior Kotton, PJ Timeless and OL Stewball finished second, third and fourth, respectively.
In a rarity, “Chuckie” was the only male in the championship final.
“I’m excited, really excited”, said trainer Ken Smith. “This is owner Barry Stanton’s only Greyhound. He was going to send him to Naples Greyhound Track, but at the last minute changed his mind to Palm Beach.”
Trickapalooza earned a cool $10,000 for his Bob Balfe championship victory.
