Wheeling for Friday Afternoon and Evening

Details of races this weekend at Wheeling

Friday Matinee:

Race 5 (Grade AA - First half of the twin trifecta force out): Definitely a race to check out, it’s like a hot box. From the rail out, 1-Kiowa Jordan Rae: Mardi Gras invader has hit the trifecta in 12 out of her 14 Wheeling starts; 2-BF Fizzle: a first, second and third in her last three top grade trips; 3-Sheeza Maniac: trouble in her last start, easy box-to-wire winner from the two hole in previous race; 4-WWK Win Day: track win leader with 15, won next-to-last race by 16 ½ lengths; 5-Dinerodann: won his last start with a driving effort; 6-Sweet Darbonne: third in last three top grade trips, tough assignment; 7-Final Vote: seems to break better from outside posts; 8-Kiowa Cue Ball: has two Grade AA victories from the outside post.

Race 10 (Grade A): Four greyhounds - the one dog WW’s Flintlock, the four dog Bob’s Stark, the seven dog Santan Valentine and the eight dog Kiowa Shook - drop down in class. Challenging the grade droppers to the turn will be the five dog Wise Style.

Race 12 (Grade TAA 3/8): Expected to vie for the early lead are the three dog Cashin Out, sitting between two slow breakers, and the five dog WW’s Cream Soda, who has hit the trifecta ticket in five out of her last six trips on the backside. Coming late will be the two dog CTW Nemesis and the seven dog AMF Castillo. The eight dog Royal Fandango goes 3/8 for the first time in Wheeling, but had a few starts on the longer course at Southland.

Friday Evening:

Race 8 (Grade AA): Looks like the two dog AMF Nicky Flash and the five dog Slatex Venetian will battle to the turn for the lead but both can be short coming home. The eight dog Bob’s Rouge, a finalist in the sprint stakes in July, prefers an outside post and should be just off the leaders. The seven dog WW’s Apprentice also likes midtrack and could follow Bob’s Rouge to the turn.

Race 10 (Grade AA): This top grade test looks like a battle between the one dog WW’s Fuzzy, who has a lot of front speed; the four dog Bob’s Cassie, coming off back-to-back early speed victories; and the eight dog Jumper Jack, one of the track’s top rushers to the turn.

Race 12 (Grade AA): The eight dog CTW Lyle Lyndon has posted three impressive victories from outside posts, including a pair in Grade AA. Others expected to be in contention are the one dog WW Blarney Stone, although he prefers to break from the outside; the four dog AMF Bombs Acomin and the five dog McGladrey, both with some early foot; and the six dog Forest Of Dreams, who possesses some closing speed.
